Zeinab Badawi

Zeinab Badawi (* November 24, 1959 in Sudan ) is a British radio reporter and news presenter of Sudanese origin. She was the first presenter of the ITV Morning News (now ITV News at 5:30 ) and co- chaired from 1989 to 1998 together with Jon Snow, the Channel 4 News before she was assistant in the team of BBC News. Currently Badawi World News Today on BBC Four presented and BBC World News.

Life

Training

Badawi was born in Sudan and came at the age of three years to England. She attended the Hornsey High School for Girls in North London and then went to the St Hilda 's College at Oxford University, where she studied politics, philosophy and economics. After her studies she acquired after completion of study an additional degree on the Middle East at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, which was assessed with an award. Career

Badawi was from 1982 to 1986 researcher and news journalist for Yorkshire TV. After a trip to BBC Manchester she came in 1988 to Channel 4 News, where she co-moderated the program from 1989 until she went to the British Broadcasting Corporation ( BBC ) 1998.

In the BBC Badawi worked for five years in charge of political coverage from Westminster, and she also worked for the BBC radio, where she moderated The World Tonight regularly on Radio 4 and Newshour BBC World Service. In 2005, Badawi new presenter of The World on BBC Four, the first daily newscast in the UK that deals exclusively widmetet the international scene. In May 2007, the program was renamed to World News Today and has since been shown in the news channel BBC World News.

In November 2009, Badawi was declared by the Association for International Broadcasting for the "International TV Personality of the Year ".

Public positions

Badawi was a consultant to the Foreign Policy Centre and Council Member of the Overseas Development Institute. 2004, she is on the board of the National Portrait Gallery and a member of the British Council.

Private life

Badawi has four children.
