Zemplín (region)

Zemplín ( German Semplin / Semmlin, Hungarian Zemplén ) is the name of a landscape in Slovakia. Derived from it is the name of the former Hungarian county Semplin, the name itself is the main town of the area, Zemplín derived.

The area is located in the easternmost part of Slovakia (except an area between the Vihorlat Mountains and the Latorica River ) and a strip of land between the rivers Bodrog and Tisza in Hungary today.

It is divided into the official tourism regions of Horny and Dolny Zemplín Zemplín.
