Zemplínska šírava

The Zemplínska šírava (literally: " Sempliner width" ) is a 1961-1965 erbauter, very popular reservoir in Eastern Slovakia. It lies about 60 km from Košice to the east, near the district town of Michalovce in the tourist region of Dolny Zemplín. It is in terms of volume ( 334 million m³) to the largest water reservoir in Slovakia.

The river was Laborec 1961-1965 dammed up by the construction of a low dam to the lake, which (in some places up to 12 ) meters deep and 7346 meters long 6 to 8, and to help address flood protection. The water is used for purposes of industry and agriculture, and is suitable for almost all water sports.

He has a very pleasant climate due to its location on the sunny foot of a 160 m high hill chain and has become a center of local tourism. The climate is relatively warm and corresponds approximately to that of Pannonia.
