Zenryō Shimabukuro

Zenryō Shimabukuro (Japanese岛 袋 善良Shimabukuro Zenryō; born November 5, 1909 in Shuri ( Okinawa ), † October 14, 1969 ) is considered the founder of the Shorin- Ryu Karate Seibukan.

Life

He was born in 1909 as the son of a poor family. Due to the acute shortage of money, he could only relatively late start with the martial arts training under Chotoku Kyan Sensei. It was not until the age of about 25 years, after he had opened a bakery in Chatan Cho, it was possible for him ten years to train under Sensei Kyan Chotoku before he even started to teach karate in his house. In 1962 he built his dojo, which he called " Seibukan ". The name ( Be = Holy, bu = Art; kan = School ) illustrates the setting master Shimabukuros to karate.

In 1964, it ranked the highest of the Okinawa Karate was awarded by the All- Japan Karate -Do Federation - 10th Dan. In 1969, Master Zenryo Shimabukuro died of a ruptured appendix. Today his son, Zenpo Shimabukuro (10th Dan ), Supreme Sensei and taught in Okinawa in ISSKA Headquarters
