Zentralblatt MATH

Zentralblatt MATH, formerly Zentralblatt für Mathematik and its border areas, is a reference journal in the field of mathematics.

Zentralblatt MATH was founded in 1931 by Otto Neugebauer, where it was in competition with the then existing yearbook on the progress of mathematics, which often appeared much delayed. In Zentralblatt MATH books, conference proceedings, etc. from the pure and applied mathematics as well as related fields such as computer science and theoretical physics in many languages are mainly original works from more than 2300 mathematical journals, but in addition gives a lecture.

The aim of the lectures is to give the reader an overview of the current mathematical literature, without himself must read all the magazines. The individual sections are created by the editors or by independent researchers, and occasionally the abstract of an original work is published or performed a song, without report. The papers appear today mostly in English, rarely also in French or German. For the classification of work the Mathematics Subject Classification will be used.

Zentralblatt MATH is published by the European Mathematical Society, the FIZ Karlsruhe, and the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences in cooperation with Springer Science Business Media. Originally it was only available in paper form, now also a paid access over the Internet, or purchase a CD -ROM edition is possible.

Other mathematical abstract services are the Mathematical Reviews and the Russian -speaking world the Referatiwnij Matematika Zhurnal.
