Žermanice Dam

The reservoir Žermanice ( Czech Žermanická prehrada ) is located 5 km south of Havířov and 7 km northeast of Frýdek- Místek (Czech Republic ) at a height of 290 m nm and is part of the cadastral territory of the municipalities Žermanice, Soběšovice, Dolni Domaslavice, Horni Domaslavice, Dolni Tošanovice and Lučina. The maximum depth reaches 28 m. The water used for water supply of industrial enterprises in the Ostrava region ( Nová huť, Biocell Paskov ) and for recreation (water sports, fishing, camping sites, holiday homes).

The dam was built on the river Lučina in the years 1951 until 1957. Since the inflow was insufficient in 1959 nor the channel Morávka - Žermanice created by the river Morávka at Raskovice until after Vojkovice, of which the reservoir is also fed. For the inhabitants of the flooded areas, the community Lučina was founded on the banks.

The dam is about 36 m high gravity dam made ​​of concrete.
