Vojkovice (Frýdek-Místek District)

Vojkovice ( German Wojkowitz, also Woykowitz, Polish Wojkowice ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers east of Frýdek- Místek and belongs to Okres Frýdek- Místek.

Geography

Vojkovice located on both sides of Lučina in Beskidenvorland in Silesia. In the village flows the scale to enhance the inflow of the dam Žermanice feed channel Morávka - Žermanice, who is head Raskovice water from the Morávka in the Lučina at Vojkovice. Prior to the establishment of the channel in 1959, the village was located at the confluence of the streams Holčina ( Praschiwka ) and Račok which now flow south of Vojkovice into the channel. South lead over the highway R 48 and the railway from Frýdek- Místek to Český Těšín. The station Dobratice pod Prašivou lies a mile south. In the southwest is the substation Nošovice and the premises of Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech. To the north lies the dam Žermanice.

Neighboring towns are Vidíkov and Dolni Domaslavice in the north, Dolni Tošanovice in the northeast, Lesní Dvůr and Šprochovice in the east, Dobratice the southeast, Hranice, Bukovice and Vyšní Lhoty in the south, Nižní Lhoty, Nošovice and Dobra in the southwest, Panské Nové Dvory, Nové dvory and Frýdek the west and Podlesí, Pazderna and Horni Domaslavice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Vojkovice dated from 1520, the village was probably founded in the early 16th century. First owner of the place was the gender of the Tluk of Tošanovice, later became part of the Lordship Vojkovice Friedeck. The inhabitants subsisted on agriculture and weaving house. The village has benefited from its location, through the base of the three streams led a trade route. The residents offered the merchants who traveled on the road between Teschen and Friedeck, against ample compensation their services in coping with the rises in the valley to. 1846 opened the first own village school before the children were taught in Dobra.

After the abolition of patrimonial Woykowitz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Teschen. 1877 The school was a private school house. From 1908 the town belonged to the district Friedek. It became famous for Beskidenkräuterlikör Vojkovická HORKA. The brandy was originally produced in the distillery Glesinger was produced in the distillery Jokl from 1926. After the German occupation Wojkowitz belonged first to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and was then from 1940 to 1945 part of the German district of Teschen. After the war came Vojkovice back to Czechoslovakia and was assigned to the Okres Mistek 1948. 1952, the liquor production was set in Vojkovice.

After the dissolution of Okres Mistek the place came with the beginning of 1961 to Okres Frýdek- Místek. In 1980 Vojkovicee was incorporated as a village Dobra 6- Vojkovice by Dobra, 1990, the church was restored.
