Zhang Juanjuan

Zhang Juan Juan ( Chinese:张娟娟, Zhang Juānjuān; born January 2, 1981) is a Chinese archer. Her biggest success was the victory in the individual competition at the Olympic Games 2008.

Career

In 2001 Juan Juan had been with the team world champion in Beijing. Then she took several more successes in major events, among other things, it was 2007 winner of the Team World Cup and second in the individual World Cup, after they had been a year earlier won the World Cup Final in Mérida and had placed on rank 3 in a single World Cup. Already in 2004 she participated in the Olympic Games in Athens, where she won the team silver medal in individual they missed in tenth but clearly a medal.

After she had qualified for the Olympics again in 2008, they initially went with the team along with Chen Ling and Guo Dan at the start. Thanks to a strong team performance succeeded in the finals, but they failed there to the strong South Koreans 215:224, who had won all team events since the inaugural tournament in 1988. Even in individual held the winning streak of the South Koreans since 1984, so a victory of a non- South Korean was considered unlikely. But good performances Juan Juan secured with two victories over the South Koreans Joo Hyun -Jung and Yun Ok- Hee the final.
