Zlatko Saračević

Zlatan " Zlatko " Saračević (Cyrillic Златан Сарачевић; born July 5, 1961 in Banja Luka, Yugoslavia ) is a former Croatian handball player.

Association

The 1.87 m wide right half- back player began playing handball in his birthplace at the multi-confessional Bosnian top club of the 1970s, RK Borac Banja Luka. At this stage on the basis of the dominance of Metaloplastika Sabac he succeeded no title. In the late 1980s, then arrived in Yugoslavia nationalist currents. After nationalist Serbs had burned 16 mosques and one of the two Catholic churches in the city, had Saračević and his family only " a few hours to flee the city, otherwise the Serbs had cut off their heads. Saračević in 1981 with the Yugoslav junior national champion. With the national team of men he repeated this triumph in 1986. In the 1988 Olympics he won silver. With the Croatian national team, he won the gold medal at the 1995 World Championships silver and bronze at the European Championships in 1994 at the Olympic Games in 1996. After Euro 2000, he finished his international career.
