The airport Zorg en Hoop ( IATA: ORG, ICAO code: SMZO ) is a small airport in Suriname. It is located in the capital Paramaribo in the same district, and the district Flora on Doekhieweg. Originally was in this area the Zorg en Hoop plantation ( anxiety and hope ) that it owes its name.

From here, especially flights to the smaller aerodromes of villages and gold mines are running inland.

End of April 2010, the start and runway was extended with a financial outlay of 1.8 million EUR from 650 meters to 750 meters and reinforced the structure.

History

In 1953 the airfield was put into operation, as the later founder of the airline Surinam Airways, Ronald Kappel and Herman van Eyck, fill up their flight operations.

The airfield is also the location of the small Surinamese air power.
