Zuberec
Zuberec (Hungarian Zuberec, Polish Zuberzec ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia. It lies at the foot of the Western Tatras in the landscape Arwa near the Polish border, about 19 km away from Tvrdošín.
The village was first mentioned in 1593 as Zwberczyc. The name is derived from the Slovak designation of the European bison ( Zubor ). At the local picture can still be good the settlement structure as Waldhufendorf recognize: the fields were originally a strip directly behind the individual farmsteads. The Open Air Museum Museum of Orava village located 4 km east of the village. At the open-air museum takes place every year the widely known beyond the region folklore festival with carnival on the first weekend in August.
