Zubrohlava

Zubrohlava (Hungarian Bölényfő ) is a municipality in the north of Slovakia with 2189 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) and is located in Okres Námestovo, kraj a circle of Žilinský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the hills Podbeskydská highlands in the traditional landscape Orava ( German Arwa ) far from the Polish border at the Bach Polhoranka, which flows near the village in the Orava reservoir. The N.M. at the height of 620 m lying town center is five kilometers north-east of Námestovo.

History

The place is first mentioned on a map of 1550; there he is mentioned as Zbracslaua. 1958, the place is strongly pulled by a flood affected.

The name translated means "Bison head ".
