Żydowce

Żydowce ( German Sydowsaue ) is a town in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in Poland. It forms a part of the urban district of Szczecin.

Geographical location

The place is located in Eastern Pomerania, about 9 kilometers south of the center of Szczecin, on the right bank of the East Oder ( Reglitz ). Further downstream is Podejuch. To the east is the Szczecin Landscape Park Buchheide.

Through the village runs from north to south, the country road 31, just south of the town is a motorway Autostrada A6.

History

The place belongs to the Oder- Enterprisen that were founded on the basis of a Cabinet Order of King Frederick the Great on December 31, 1746. In the then Office of the Kolbatz Klützer Landsdrop was identified as the location of a new foundation. The implementation of the foundation was made by Richard Christoph Sydow, the farmer-general of the Office; after it received the newly established settlement, which consisted initially of twelve settlers points and a Erbzinsgut, the name Sydowsaue (read: Sydow floodplain ).

In the last decades of the 19th century Sydowsaue developed into a suburb of Stettin with significant industry. 1875 was the place rail connection on the railway line Wroclaw - Szczecin. 1903 built Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck in Sydowsaue a rayon factory, which he earned in 1911 in the International cellulose ester GmbH, which he founded together with the United Glanzstoff factories AG in Wuppertal. The work developed into a large enterprise with at times over 2,000 employees. In 1937 Sydowsaue a departure at the newly built autobahn Berlin- Königsberg.

Sydowsaue formed until 1939, a municipality in the district Greifenhagen; 1934, the neighboring Klutz was incorporated into Sydowsaue. With the large -Stettin Act 1939 Sydowsaue was incorporated into the city of Szczecin.

After the Second World War came Sydowsaue how completely Pomerania to Poland. The Polish government gave the place the name Żydowce and populated it with Poland. Today Żydowce - Klucz makes up a part of Szczecin.

Sydowsaue was until 1927 the parish in the older neighboring Klutz. 1927 received Sydowsaue own church building, a modern brick building.
