1956–57 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season

The East German Ice Hockey Cup 1956/57, was held in a league with six teams. The SG Dynamo White Water defended her title from the previous year without loss of points. The second league started the first time with four squadrons in the season, which were divided along regional lines. How played in Season 1 almost exclusively teams from the district Karl- Marx-Stadt, in season 2 teams primarily from the Lausitz, in Season 3 exclusively Thuringian teams and in Season 4, representatives from the districts of Halle and Magdeburg, including the Harz region.

While the league round was conducted exclusively in the Berlin Werner Seelenbinder hall, were numerous encounters the lower leagues - is discharged usually on natural ice rinks - the unfavorable weather victim. End of May 1957 it was therefore decided to cancel the championship ahead of time and to date all outstanding games to emphasize replacement. The ascent and descent scheme was suspended and taken over the game classes with the same band members in the subsequent season in 1957/58.

While thus remained all 2 league teams in this division, two newcomers was (possibly district champion? ) For next season with the sports club teams ASK Vorwärts Berlin and SC Motor Karl- Marx-Stadt be classified according to their skill level in the first league.

Rise Games for 2nd league in 1957/58

The rise of the tournament district champion was discontinued due to the repealed and descent control. The districts who could bring their championships at the end, was allowed to nominate their representatives for the upcoming second league season. Finally, it should complement only one district champion the participants of the third division in 1957/58 with the BSG Motor Eisenach ( Misc Erfurt).

Name Changes
