1971–72 DDR-Oberliga (ice hockey) season

To the East German Ice Hockey Championship 1971/72 played as usual, the two Dynamo clubs from white water and Berlin in the big leagues.

In the best of determining a preliminary round was played in two seasons due to the participation of six teams initially. The subsequent final round, however, was played in KO system. The BSG unit Crimmitschau could ultimately defend their title from last year.
