1964–65 DFB-Pokal

DFB-Pokal winners Borussia Dortmund in 1965 was. With Alemannia Aachen reached for the first time since the introduction of the Bundesliga in 1963 a third division, the final of the DFB-Pokal. The final was held in Hanover on 22 May 1965. Through this title to Borussia Dortmund qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup 1965/66, the Dortmund won with a 2-1 victory in the final against Liverpool. For the first time the Cup Winners got a new trophy, the DFB Cup club in its present form, presents. Defending TSV 1860 Munich was excreted after a replay already in the second round against the third division 1 FSV Mainz 05. For the defeated finalists Alemannia Aachen after 1953 it was already the second final defeat.
