1967 Copa Libertadores
The Copa Libertadores 1967 was the 8th edition of the most important South American football competition for club teams. 20 teams took part. It took each of the national champions of CONMEBOL countries and the second part, or the winners and finalists of the Cup competitions in Brazil and Bolivia, as there is no national championships were still held. An exception was Uruguay. It took some doing only the winner of the championship, because CA Peñarol qualified automatically as defending champions. The tournament began on February 11 and ended on August 29, 1967 with the final decider. The Argentine representative Racing Club won the final against Nacional Montevideo and thus won his first title in this competition.
