1975–76 in English football

The Football League First Division 1975/76 was the 77th season of the Football League First Division English as the highest football league. It began on August 16, 1975 and ended on 4 May 1976. FC Liverpool won with a dot pitch on the Queens Park Rangers now its ninth English championship. They were followed by three further points less Movers Manchester United and defending champions Derby County. In addition to " United" were the other two climbers Aston Villa and Norwich City stay in the league; instead had to Wolverhampton Wanderers FC Burnley, Sheffield United and the transition to the Second Division compete. These three teams should be in the following season replaced by the three newly promoted second division West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City and Sunderland AFC.

A total of 484 players were used, the Queens Park Rangers with 17 the least and Sheffield United with 28 mustered the most players in league games. 101 newcomers were offset by 121 footballers who most recently came into play in the 1975/76 season.
