1995–96 Slovenian Hockey League season

The 1995/96 season was the fifth staging of the Slovenian Hockey League after the declaration of independence of Slovenia from Yugoslavia. She was discharged with six teams. Defending champion and also the new champion was the HDD Olimpija Ljubljana.

Participants and mode

The field shrank compared to last year together on six teams, as the HK Celje game operation had during the course of last season due to financial reasons must be set. The mode remained, unlike last year, however, there was again a host of the Alps league before the start of the national championships. A double round-trip round was held in the Slovenian league in the regular season. The top four teams then played out another easy round-trip round for the final placement before the playoffs. These were held as semi-finals and final of the Best of Seven mode. Similarly, the other placements were played.

Regular season

After the HDD Ljubljana last year for the first time the fundamental passage for himself had been able to decide the team succeeded in the 1995/96 season a perfect season by all twenty encounters were completed and won without losing points. As the first pursuers established the HK Jesenice, which however, at no time was a threat for the league leaders. A special premiere succeeded the HK Slavija: the first time the team did not close the regular season on the last rank from, but was able to secure the first three preliminary round wins since hosting the Slovenian league the last place.

Second round

Playoffs

In the playoffs to favorites Ljubljana sat smoothly against all rivals and secured the title defense. The Ljubljana had just lost a game to give, but this only happened in the extension. The HK Slavija prolonged the slight upward trend by clearly the team prevailed in the series for fifth against the bottom club.
