2000 Davidoff Swiss Indoors

The Davidoff Swiss Indoors Basel 2000, the 31st edition of the indoor tennis tournament in Basel. The tournament was the International Series tournament of the ATP series. It was, together with the Kremlin Cup in Moscow from 24 to 29 October 2000 and was organized held at the St. Jakob indoors on carpet. The prize money was $ 350,000 for both single as well as for the double tournament. In individual 32 players competed against each other in a double there were 16 pairings.

The single won the tournament seeded Swede Thomas Enqvist position two, so that the last year's winner Karol Kučera replaced. Kucera not stepped up to defend their title. For Enqvist it was the second title this season and the 18th of his career. He defeated in the final of the hitherto largely unknown Swiss Roger Federer in five sets, which could also feed into the doubles final.

Defender of the double were the South African Brent Haygarth and Aleksandar Kitinov from Macedonia, no longer competed in this constellation. While Kitinov was not represented at the tournament, Haygarth failed with his compatriot Wayne Ferreira in the first round. Instead, set at position four pairing won consisting of the Americans Donald Johnson and South African Piet Norval to what had already signified the third title of the doubles this year. Besides, it was Johnson and Norvals 13 titles of their careers, but in this situation they played together only in this season.
