2006 OFC Club Championship

The OFC Champions Cup in 2006 was the fifth sending a oceanic Champions competition for club teams in football and was held from 10 to 21 May 2006, eight clubs from seven countries in the North Harbour Stadium in Albany (North Shore City ), New Zealand instead. The teams came from New Caledonia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tahiti and Vanuatu. The first time was not a representative of Australia at the start, because Australia had joined the Asian Football Association AFC connected; for two representatives from New Zealand. The team qualified due to their rankings in the national championship, with seven teams were set for the final round. Four other teams had advance to contest a qualifying round in Ba, Fiji, whose winner is qualified for the final round. The competition was played in a round robin tournament with two groups of four teams, followed by a knockout round. The two best group reached the semi-finals.

The winner of Auckland City from Australia qualified as a representative of Oceania for the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan in 2006.

Qualification

The qualifying matches were held from February 6 to 10 in Govind Park in Ba, Fiji instead. It was played in a single round of everyone against everyone. The group winners qualified for the final round of the competition.
