2010 European Cross Country Championships

The 17th European Cross Country Championships were held in the EAA Albufeira ( Portugal) on 12 December 2010.

The course in the Holiday Resort Aldeia das Açoteias consisted of a 1600 meters long loop and a smaller 500 -meter loop, except that of the men was incorporated into the route at all races to achieve the prescribed in the regulations distances. There were also 270 meters between start and finish. The men coped with six large rounds ( 9.87 km ), the women and U23 men four large and three small rounds ( 8.17 km ), the U23 women and juniors three large and two small rounds ( 6.07 km ) and the junior two large and one small round ( 3.970 km ).

The defending champion Alemayehu Bezabeh was not at the start, because he had been excluded by the recently made ​​the arrest of his coach Manuel Pascua in doping scandal Fuentes of the Spanish team.
