Final round

The big surprise of the first round was the elimination of the defending champion and world number two Mark Williams v Stephen Lee. Also, Stephen Maguire, before even a finalist in the Welsh Open, retired early. Positively surprised the wildcard Li Hang players, who just won against Graeme Dott and his best result achieved so far. Judd Trump, who had already knocked on the door of the top 16 players, and Ryan Day against an index located lately out of shape Ronnie O'Sullivan were also able to prevail against seeded players. Biggest surprise of the second round was the end of world champion Neil Robertson against Peter Ebdon. But in the quarterfinals He had then no chance against the always better coming into play youngster Judd Trump. With John Higgins also the last of the top 3 seeded players failed to Shaun Murphy. In the upper half of the set list, the remaining favorites Mark Selby and Ding Junhui prevailed. In their semi-final the match was up to 3:3 balanced, to be qualified with Selby won three frames in a row for the final. In the other semifinal Murphy was unable to repeat the success against Higgins. A punchy playing and safely punching Judd Trump won safely with 6:1.

Final

For the 21 -year-old Judd Trump took so long for the first final of his career in front of cameras on the main tour. Nevertheless, he showed little nervousness. In the fairly balanced match he was able to repeatedly submit and Selby always had to fight for the compensation. He succeeded, after a 6:8 residue, even to 8:8. After that, it was Trump, who, each with a '57 -Break the missing two tight frames secured the tournament victory and won his first title at a world ranking tournament.
