2013–14 NBA season

The NBA 2013/14 season is the 68th season of the National Basketball Association. The defending champions are the Miami Heat.

Before the start of the season

New name for the New Orleans ' Hornets "

In April 2013, the management took place in New Orleans a name change to " Pelicans " ( German: Pelicans ) because the fan base with the name " Hornets " ( German: Hornets ), whom she had brought from Charlotte, could not identify. According to the team leadership a pelican from the outer appearance is better suited to a coastal region.

NBA Draft

The 2013 NBA Draft was held on June 27, 2013 in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. In two draft rounds, the 30 NBA teams have secured the rights to 60 young players from the NCAA College Football and abroad. The Canadian Anthony Bennett was selected as the first player. Behind him followed Victor Oladipo and Otto Porter. Furthermore, it was drafted at # 17 out of the Atlanta Hawks Dennis Schroeder from Braunschweig.

Important change clubs

  • After only one season with the Los Angeles Lakers left again Dwight Howard, who at this point probably the best center in the league, the West Coast and the Houston Rockets joined them.
  • The blockbuster trade of the summer took place between the Brooklyn Nets and the Boston Celtics. So Boston Celtics got, among other things Gerald Wallace and Kris Humphries. The Brooklyn Nets, the veterans Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry.

  • Tim Ohlbrecht leaves after only three brief appearances, the Houston Rockets and was briefly with the Philadelphia 76ers under contract. Since November 2013 he plays again for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the D- League.
