Accons

Accons is a commune with 433 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the region Rhône -Alpes. It is located in the department of Ardèche. Its inhabitants are (it) called Acconnais.

Geography

The community stretches between the massif Boutières, an offshoot of the Cevennes. Therefore, the main town Accons lies at the foot of Serre -en- Don at 1200m. The nearest large town of Aubenas is a distance of 30 kilometers to the southeast. The river spines crosses the municipality. Neighboring communities are Saint -Martin -de- Valamas and Jaunac in the north, Le Cheylard in the Northeast, Saint- Christol in the east, in the southeast of Dorna and Mariac in the West. The municipality comprises the main town Accons and the four hamlets of La Motte, Le Monteil, Les Auches and Chaussinard.

History

Accons was founded in the 11th century as a strategic location of the first managers of the country to control the valleys of the surrounding rivers Eyrieux, mandrels and Eysse. Here the origin of the village lies on the extinct volcano Roche de Brion at 800 meters above sea level, can be seen at the hillside ruins of a castle first.

Was determined the events in the village of Château de la Motte, in the 17th century, the Bayle family, the lords of La Motte- Brion was, but was conquered in the 18th century by the Sasse nage and Vogüé family.

The Château de Motte falls in the Renaissance style of the 15th and 16th century on its military architecture, for example, lead control paths along the fortress. The building also has its own ironwork and three imposing towers, so the castle is visible from afar. A specially built bridge from the 16th century connects the fortress to the village. In the courtyard a winding staircase leads to the height. Towards the end of the 16th century, the places were built around the building. In 1944 the castle was set in World War II by German troops on fire, so that part of the fort had to be restored in 1964.

The Church of Accons is one of the oldest in the region. Due to its remoteness, it has remained untouched by the unrest in Vivarais 1572-1628. In 1982 she was badly damaged, but in 1984 the measures for restoration had been completed.
