The AIDAmar is a cruise ship of the world market leader for cruises, the British-American Carnival Corporation & plc. It is used for driving under the specially focused on the German market corporate brand AIDA Cruises. It is operated under the Italian flag by Costa Crociere SpA in Genoa, under whose name the Carnival Group conducts its business operations with the brand AIDA Cruises, Costa Cruises and Ibero Cruceros summarized.
It was built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg as the third unit of the modified Sphinx class and is in service since May 2012.
History
Procurement and construction
On 13 December 2007, Carnival Corporation & plc ordered two more cruise ships (AIDA SPHINX V - the AIDAsol - and AIDA SPHINX VI - the AIDAmar ) that should be provided for its AIDA Cruises brand in Italy in service. The award was given as 385 million euros. The keel of the hull number S.690 took place on 20 April 2008. The ship was undocked on 1 April 2012 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg Emsland. On the evening of April 12, 2012, the transfer of the AIDAmar began on the Ems from Papenburg to Emden, where it arrived in the early morning.
Baptism
On 24 November 2010 the shipping company released the name of the second vessel and announced his baptism as part of the 823rd birthday of Hamburg's port. At the baptism of AIDAmar on May 12, 2012 in Hamburg were the AIDAsol that AIDAblu and the Aida Luna on site. The ships were in the area of HafenCity star formation, then drove behind the other, the AIDAsol ahead, the Aida Luna in the end, the fish market, where they met during a light show on the AIDAmar. Use
The maiden voyage began on 12 May 2012 just after the christening, and led to Belgium, France, England, Scotland, Norway and Sweden. After the maiden voyage of the AIDAmar was used in the summer months for cruises to Norway, North Cape, Iceland and Scotland, in the autumn in the Mediterranean and over the winter months in the Red Sea. Cabins and onboard facilities
