Chalco ( Aluminum Corporation of China Ltd., Chinese中国 铝业 股份有限公司, abbreviation: .中国 铝业) is a Chinese aluminum producer. The company is listed on the stock index SSE 50.

The parent company is the Chinese state company CHINALCO ( Aluminum Corporation of China - without " Ltd. ").

Positioning in the market

Chalco claims to be the largest aluminum producer in China and the third largest worldwide. According to the company 70 percent of China's demand for aluminum from Chalco be covered. One of the largest shareholders with a share of eight percent of the world's largest aluminum producer Alcoa (USA).

Locations

Chalco operates refineries and smelters in the provinces of Qinghai, Guizhou, Shanxi, Henan, Shandong and Guangxi Autonomous Region. The company's headquarters is in Beijing.

Ownership

Shares of Chalco are traded in Hong Kong and New York. Although state-owned enterprises belong to the shareholders of Chalco, the company claims to be independent.

Investments

In August 2007, Chinalco took over (the parent company ) 100 % of the shares of " Peru Copper Inc.", which in turn owner of " Minera Chinalco Peru SA " (before the takeover: " Minera Peru Copper "). This company developed the Toromocho project ( Location: Mina Morococha 150 km northeast of Lima ), a 30 years -scale mining, will be recovered from the copper, molybdenum and silver.
