Artena

Artena is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, 13,846 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012). It is located 47 km southeast of Rome.

Artena was a city of the Volscians in antiquity. More recently, the community was called until 1873 Montefortino.

Geography

Artena is located on the northern slopes of the Monti Lepini above the valley of the Sacco. The place is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Lepini.

The municipality consists of the villages Colubro, Macere, Maiotini, Abbazia, selvatico and Valli
