Labico
Labico is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 6154 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 50 kilometers east of Rome between Palestrina and Valmontone.
Geography
Labico lies in the valley of the Sacco, between the Alban Hills and the Prenestini.
History
In ancient times had here at Via Labicana (now Via Casilina SS 6), the Roman family Longus an estate, the fundus Longianus. This name evolved into the modern times to Lugnano. In 1888 the municipality took the name Labico because you mistakenly thought the ancient Labicum would have been the Vorgängerort. According to modern research, Labicum but was instead of what Monte Compatri.
