Asterix and the Laurel Wreath

The Laurel Wreath ( original French title: Les Laurier de César ) is the 18th Asterix band and was texted by René Goscinny and drawn by Albert Uderzo. It was published in 1972 in French and German in 1974.

Action

The village chief Majestix visited with his wife good mien and Asterix and Obelix his wealthy brother- in Homöopatix Lutetia. After Majestix, provoked by the denunciations of his brother, has bet in a drunken state with Homöopatix that he would cook the laurels from the laurel wreath of Caesar himself in his stew, he sends Asterix and Obelix to Rome in order to bring these.

To get into Caesar's Palace, they can sell from a slave trader as slaves. However, they are not purchased to Caesar, but the rich Claudius and are used in this as cooks. Comments

This comic is probably the most adult -oriented Asterix story. It shows drunkenness, slavery, debauchery, especially violence, nudity, androgyny, and it requires some knowledge of art and history in order to understand all the allusions. In France, the story first appeared in 1971 as a series in the French magazine Pilote in issues 621-642, and was published in 1972 as the album published by Dargaud. In the German translation of the story of the Ehapa -Verlag 1972 Magazine MV - Comix was ( books 6-20 ) first printed in 1974 and published as the 18th volume of the Asterix series. 2002, this band has been reissued and was given a new title screen.

The band appeared among others in English, Spanish and Turkish as well as in the dialects of Moselle Franconian and Swabian.
