Badín

Badín (Hungarian Erdőbádony - to 1902 Badin ) is a town in central Slovakia.

It lies between the cities of Banská Bystrica and Zvolen in Pohronie in the basin Zvolenska kotlina, at the edge of the Kremnica mountains.

History

The village was first mentioned in writing in 1232 as Badun and put a wax settlement dar. After the loss of this function, the inhabitants were chiefly engaged in agriculture. 1580 to 1657 the village was then occupied by the Turks. 1850 was the local situation Tri Duby, which lies to the southeast on the Hron behind the R1 expressway, incorporated.

  • Late classical Protestant Church, built in 1865 as a hall church with typical Protestant gallery
  • Classical church, which was rebuilt in its present form the end of the 19th century a Gothic church from 1397 ( which are preserved defensive wall, loopholes and the newer wooden belfry )

In the Kremnitz mountains west of the municipality of Badínsky prales ( " Badíner jungle "), a state-protected nature reserve since 1913, is located.
