Bílovice nad Svitavou

Bílovice nad Svitavou ( German Bilowitz, formerly Billowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers northeast of the city center of Brno at the city limits and is part of the Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Bílovice nad Svitavou is located in the southwest of Drahany country in the valley of the Svitava. Surrounded by wooded hills village is located south of the Moravian Karst in a boiler at the mouth of the brooks Praskavice, Časnýř, Kuní creek and Melatín. To the south rises the Hády (424 m) and west of the Ostra horka ( Stromberg, 404 m).

Neighboring towns are Adamov, Ptačinek and Babice nad Svitavou in the north, Řícmanice in the northeast, Obce, Ochoz u Brna and Horni Mlýn in the east, Mokrá - Horákov the southeast, Lisen and Maloměřice in the south, Obřany and Brno-sever the southwest, Sadová and Soběšice in the west and Ořešín and Útěchov in the northwest.

History

Bílovice was founded on the basis of archaeological discoveries in the 11th century. The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1498 as a possession by Jan Bílovský of Vrbětín. In the years 1843 to 1848 was the construction of the railway Česká Třebová - Brno.

After the abolition of patrimonial Bilovice / Billowitz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno team. Since the end of the 19th century, the local name is used Bílovice. 1921 Bílovice was assigned to the Okres Brno- venkov and since 1925 the church leads the official name suffix nad Svitavou. Between 1948 and 1960, was Bílovice nad Svitavou part of Okres Brno- okolí and since 1961 the village belongs again to Brno- venkov. Since 1998, the municipality performs a coat of arms and banners.
