Binéfar

Binéfar is a municipality in the west of the province of Huesca of the autonomous community of Aragon in Spain. It is together with Tamarite de Litera capital of La Litera. The municipality has an area of 25 km ² 9468 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) and is located at 286 meters above sea level.

Binéfar between Monzón and Almacelles along the national road N- 240, and is therefore at the feeder path of Catalonia capital of the province of Huesca.

The name Binéfars could be of Arabic origin and go back to a gentlemen named Affa or Effar. This theory represented at the turn of the 19th to 20th century, the local linguist Benito Coll. Demographics

The place is economically of national importance, as there is the Lonja Agropecuaria de Binéfar despite its size, the most important cattle - market of Spain.
