Borough of Melton

Melton is an administrative district with the status of a borough in the county of Leicestershire in England. Administrative seat is the town of Melton Mowbray, where over half the population. Other important towns are Asfordby and Bottesford.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Urban District of Melton Mowbray and Melton and Belvoir Rural District.
