Geography
Geographical Location
Brietlingen lies to the west of the nature reserve bank of the Elbe - Drawehn. The community belongs to the Samtgemeinde Scharnebeck, which has its headquarters in the town of Scharnebeck.

History
The village was first mentioned in 1004.

On March 1, 1974, the neighboring community Lüdershausen was incorporated.
