Bueren an der Aare is a municipality in the administrative district in the canton of Bern Seeland in Switzerland.

Geography

Buren borders Meienried, Safnern, Meinisberg, Ruti in Buren, Lengnau, Grenchen, Oberwil in Buren, Schnottwil, this bei Buren and Dotzigen.

History

Buren was founded in the 12th century by the barons of Strassberg. The first written mention dates back to 1185. 1260 was the place the city charter, which was confirmed again in 1288. 1398 Bern conquered the town.

Traffic

Bueren an der Aare is located on the railway line Busswil -Solothurn. 1994 was set on the path part Bueren an der Aare Solothurn the railways, or switch to another bus. From Bueren an der Aare there are hourly trains to Busswil BE- Lyss, where there are good connections to Biel / Bienne and Bern. The trains continue on Aarberg to Kerzers.

Attractions

Buren has a well preserved old town with the exception of the demolished in the 18th century fortifications. On the main street is the former palace of the Bernese bailiffs, now the seat of the district administration.
