Cantigny, Somme

Cantigny ( Picard: Cantegny ) is a northern French village with 105 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Montdidier, in the canton Montdidier.

Geography

The church in the countryside Santerre is on the road department D26 7 km west-northwest of Montdidier.

History

The community was recaptured in the First World War in the battle of Cantigny in May 1918 by American troops under the command of Major General Robert Lee Bullard. She received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
