Nicolás Romero is a municipality in the Mexican state of México. It belongs to the Zona Metropolitana del Valle de México, the metropolitan region around Mexico City.

The municipality was one of the Census 2010 366.602 inhabitants, its surface area amounts to 235.5 km ². Administrative seat and largest town of the Municipalities is Villa Nicolás Romero.

Geography

Nicolás Romero is centrally located in the State of Mexico, about 20 km northeast of Mexico City to an average of 2,370 m altitude. The approximately 40 % of the municipios are used or forested for agriculture.

The municipality of Nicolás Romero borders the Municipalities Villa del Carbon, Tepotzotlán Cuautitlán Izcalli, Atizapán de Zaragoza, Isidro Fabela, Temoaya and Jiquipilco.
