Claude Piéplu

Claude Léon Auguste Piéplu ( born May 9, 1923 in Paris, † May 24, 2006 ) was a French actor.

Life

Piéplu already took acting lessons as a teenager. After several theater roles his film career began in 1956 with the comedy Adorables démons by Maurice Cloche. He was the wise Druid Getafix in Claude Zidis Asterix and Obelix against Caesar, the Colonel Luis Buñuel in The Discreet Charm of the bourgeoisie and Paul Delamare Claude Chabrol in Bloody wedding. It was followed by numerous, mostly comic roles in films such as needle protects against folly not by Yves Robert, or Adventures of Rabbi Jacob by Gérard Oury. As a supporting actor he excelled among other things as the priest Robert Hossein and his girlfriend Claude Jade 's conscience -talking and then from Catholicism to Communism changing Ancely celibate drama The Abbé and the love of Denys de La Patellière. In France, he is also known as the spokesman of the animated series Shadoks.

Piéplu has starred in around 40 films and been in 175 roles on stage. Politically, Piéplu committed to last for disarmament. He died at the age of 83 years.
