Formation and style

In the Clouds Death Doom influences gave way to even more in favor of more accessible song structures, again influences from classic heavy metal were noted, complemented by keyboard deposits. The song is no longer based on the Death Metal - with some pieces Johan Edlund speaks the text. Again Waldemar Sorychta was the producer. The new bassist Johnny Hagel wearing the same for songwriting.

Reception

Frank Albrecht wrote in the magazine Rock Hard, Tiamat possessed " a fully self-contained sound, including especially the keyboards contribute to surprise the listener again and again, because sometimes they come spacey, then again Seventieslike, but always very melodic. Melody is indeed the magic word that Tiamat have discovered for themselves. " He praised Sorychtas production and awarded ten out of ten. Eduardo Rivadavia of Allmusic awarded four out of five stars. He called Clouds "another major step in the quick sonic evolution of Tiamat ".
