CURIE

A CURIE (short for Compact URI) is a shortened URI, which can be described in CURIE syntax, and are found in XML, as well as in non-XML languages. A CURIE can be considered as a data type.

QNames ( the namespace prefixes that are used in XML) are often used as CURIE and can be considered as CURIE type. Curies, as defined by the W3C, will be better described and may contain a review. Unlike QNames that part of the CURIE must follow the colon not the rules for elements names follow.

The first W3C Working Draft of CURIE Syntax was issued on 7 March 2007.

Example

This example is based on a working draft of the W3C on 7 March 2007, there will be a QName syntax used within XHTML.
