The municipality Daun is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the district of volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. The municipality includes the town of Daun and 37 independent local churches, the council is based in the eponymous town of Daun.

History

The municipality Daun has arisen in the context of action taken in the second half of the 1960s and early 1970s, Rhineland-Palatinate, functional and territorial reform of the existing 1927 Office Daun. On October 1, 1968, the Association of Municipalities were evaluated because of the "Land Act amending municipal constitutional requirements and to prepare for the reorganization of local government " initially converted from July 16, 1968 all 132 offices in the districts of Koblenz and Trier, including the Office of Daun in association communities.

The new municipality Daun was assigned the following municipalities:

  • Of the dissolved municipality Gillenfeld the communities Brockscheid, Demerath, Ellscheid, Gillespie Field, Mückeln, Saxler, stone mountain, stone rings, Strohn, Strotzbüsch, Udler and angle,
  • From the previous municipality Gerolstein the communities Betteldorf and Hinterweiler.

The new municipality Daun was the legal successor of the dissolved association communities Daun, Gillespie Field and low Stadtfeld. Administrative headquarters, the city remained down.
