Dechtice

Dechtice (Slovak 1927-1946 " Dehtice "; Dechtitz German, Hungarian Dejte ) is a municipality in western Slovakia, with 1869 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Trnava Region of a lower part of the Trnavský.

Geography

The municipality is located in the hills Trnavská pahorkatina ( part of the Danube 's hill country ) underneath the Little Carpathians, on the river Blava. The center is located at an altitude of 186 m nm The city of Trnava is situated 20 kilometers south.

History

The town was first mentioned in a document of 1258 as Degce writing and belonged to the manor of Castle Guttenstein (Slovak Dobra Voda hrad ) and since the 16th century it developed as a town. Because of its location on the river Blava the place between two Hungarian counties was divided, with the greater part of the county Pressburg and smaller part of the county Neutra. 1828 are listed 158 houses and 1100 inhabitants. The population lived from agriculture, viticulture, pottery and Kannerei ( a relic of the habanischer settlement ).

Attractions

  • Roman Catholic Church of All Saints from the year 1172, which resulted from a Romanesque rotunda. The tower was added in 1741
  • Roman Catholic Church of St. Catherine, originally built in the 14th century gothic, 1612 expanded and remodeled baroque
  • Ruins of the Convent and Church of St. Catherine at the same time (local Katarínka ) west of the town in the Little Carpathians, which was founded in 1618 by Count Erdődy for the Franciscan order. 1786, the order was dissolved by King Joseph II and since then the building has been abandoned
