Dolgesheim

Dolgesheim is a municipality in the district Mainz -Bingen, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Guntersblum.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Dolgesheim Gaustraße (State Road 425 ) in the middle between Mainz and Worms. Another connection is provided by the Federal Highway 9 from Oppenheim Dienheim, Uelversheim and Weinolsheim or by Gunter Blum Eimsheim. From the A61 exit Alzey about Gau- home and Hille home. History

The place " Dulgisheim " was mentioned in 769, was first documented in a donation to the monastery of Lorsch. Back then poured Theo and Unsetz the monastery Lorsch two acres of farmland " in pago Wormat in Dulgisheimer Mark ".

By the end of the 18th century Dolgesheim reichsritterschaftlicher was owned by the Counts of Leiningen. During the so-called French occupation of the city was the seat of a canton in the Mairie Oppenheim, who was part of the department of Thunder Mountain. To Mairie Dolgesheim also included Eimsheim and winter home. Structures

  • The church is the oldest building in the town. The foundation walls date back to the 13th century. After its renovation it is a jewel among the Protestant churches in Rheinhessen.
  • Located in the village, in the Gaustraße, stands the Town Hall was built in 1594.
  • On the Kreuzberg a field cross was erected in recent times.
