Dyurtyuli
Djurtjuli (Russian Дюртюли, Bashkir Дүртөйле / Dürtöjle ) is a city in the Republic of Bashkortostan (Russia) with 31 274 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the southern Uralvorland, about 125 km north-west of the Republic capital Ufa on the Belaya, a left tributary of the Kama.
Djurtjuli is the Oblast administratively subordinated directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons.
History
Djurtjuli was first mentioned in 1785 ( according to other sources 1795) and developed by the end of the 19th century an important trading village. After the discovery of oil deposits in the area in 1964 it received the status of an urban-type settlement and 1989 city law.
