The SV Milland was founded on 26 April 1974 in the same Brixner fraction. In the season 1977/1978 the football section of the club took the first time in a championship, the third amateur league, in part. From the season 1980/1981, after a year of inactivity, the association was able to constantly increase, and rose in the 1990/1991 season the first time in the regional league. At the end of the season 1994/1995 the club was relegated as a table Sixteenth from the South Tyrolean provincial league. As SV Milland, the club has won at this time a total of 12 youth championships.

In the same year a group of entrepreneurs has decided to bring back the professional football back to South Tyrol. The FC Südtirol should be the flagship football club in the country, and be as soon as possible represented in professional leagues.

The offices of the Association were moved to Bolzano, the official headquarters of the association has remained until today Brixen. Also significant is the transformation of the club in the Football Club South Tyrol Ges.mbH.

In the first season in Serie C2, the aim of avoiding relegation was quickly reached. Due to extremely poor performances of the team to achieve this goal, the contract was not renewed with ascent coach Giuseppe Sannino.

In the 2001 / 02 season, the former professional football player Attilio Tesser took over as coach. The stated goal of President Goller was from now on the achievement of a playoff place. After some initial difficulties, the team was able to ultimately achieve the goal, but different in the playoff semifinals despite two draws against the higher-ranked club in the table Brescello Calcio.

After this season, left the team some props, such as striker or defender Simone Motta Morris Molinari, the club. President Goller was however again before reaching a playoff place for the 2002/ 03 season. In summer 2007, the club almost to participate in the next championship was denied because the official headquarters of the association was still in Brixen, and therefore, according to the association, the home games would be held in Bressanone. For this reason, a merger with FC Bolzano was proposed in 1996, but this was not realized. The club was able ultimately to the Championship 2007/ 08, because the Association a special permit has been issued, which still applies today. This season, still under the leadership of coach Aldo Firicano, the club joined the league from by a home win against Pro Vercelli on the final day.

In the 2008 /09 season Maurizio D' Angelo took over as coach. By the end of October, he was replaced due to poor performance by Marco Alessandrini, but also under him, the results were no better. Stadium and infrastructure

Between 1995 and 2000, played the FC South Tyrol in Brixen and in Tramin. Since the rise in the C2 series but the club denies its games in the Druze Stadium of Bolzano, because it is the only homologated for professional leagues stadium in South Tyrol. In the same stadium also plays the FC Bolzano 1996.

The actual club seat was until February 2011, Bressanone, which is why it always came back to inconsistencies with the Football Association and the FC Bolzano 1996 for the use of the stadium.

An ongoing problem of the association is the lack of an own training course, which is why the training is constantly taking place in rented places.

2011 at the earliest to the construction of a stadium and a Train Sing center in Laives be started.
