Fierozzo

Florutz ( Mocheno: Vlarötz, Italian: Fierozzo ) is a municipality in Fersental in the Italian province of Trento. The municipality has 487 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012), of which the majority Mocheno, a Bavarian dialect speaks.

Geography

The municipality covers an area of ​​17.94 km ², of which 1181.59 ha of arable land, 1042.42 ha of forest and 36.42 ha of unproductive alpine zone. The municipality is divided into three similar land: Auserpèrg or Monte di Fuori, Mitterpèrg or Monte di Mezzo and Inderpèrg or Monte di Dentro. The seat of the municipality is located in Mitterpèrg, at 1,127 m above sea level

The neighboring communities are Palai in Fersental in the north, Orsola Terme in the West, Gereut in the south, as well as Roncegno and Torcegno in the east.

Multilingualism in the school

Since 1918 Fersental Italian was the only language of instruction in schools. With the recognition as a minority language, the Fersentalerische as well as the font German again gaining importance. In the primary school of Florutz the dialect is offered as a compulsory subject from the first grade to the last few years. In addition, there are at this so far the only school in Trentino - tentatively - two teaching languages: Italian and German. A study in 2009 found that children with knowledge in the vernacular had significant advantages in the German lessons over previously monolingual Italian peers.
