Figure skating at the 1952 Winter Olympics

In the VI. Three contests 1952 Olympic Games in Oslo were held in figure skating.

The competition consisted of duty and a 5 minute freestyle. The performances were judged by nine adjudicators.

Defending champion Richard Button had since his Olympic victory dominated the men's competition, and not lost a single competition. After the duty he had a comfortable lead, on which he located in the Free Skate but not resting. He showed a triple Rittberger and was thus the first figure skater, who was a triple jump in competition. Button second Olympic victory was unanimous and safely. Button is still (as of 2010) of the last Olympic champion in the men's competition, who defended his title.

Very much closer it came to the second place in the struggle. European champion Helmut Seibt from Austria won the silver medal with the least possible distance from one point in front of the Americans James Grogan.

The 18- year-old American Hayes Alan Jenkins was fourth, it should be four years later, the next Olympic champion. In second place Five of Canadians Peter Firstbrook, for it represented the best result of his career followed. Second best Europeans was in sixth place of the Italian Carlo Fassi, Alain Giletti, who finished seventh ahead of the Frenchman.
