Fliura Abbate-Bulatova

Fliura Bulatowa ( born July 9, 1963 in Tashkent) is a native of Uzbekistan Italian table tennis player. They won the European Championship twice once in singles and in doubles.

Youth

Fliura Bulatowa grew up in Tashkent, where she first played with 10 years of table tennis. It was promoted by the recreational coach Anatoly Laptev. She preferred the game in defense. In 1976 Bulatowa the girls championship of Uzbekistan. In the same year her experienced professional trainers Mikhail Schmuckler was assigned. In 1977 she qualified for the Junior Championship of the USSR. In 1978 she won with the USSR team at the European Youth Championships in Barcelona. Then Stanislav Gomozkov was her coach. The following European Junior Championships, she was again successful: 1979 victory with the team, 1980 silver in doubles (with Elena Sidorova ) and gold with the team, 1981 European Champion in singles and victory with the team.

Adult

1979 Bulatowa was first nominated for the World Cup. For the USSR, they still started at the four following World Championships: World Cup 1981, World Cup 1983, World Cup 1985, World Cup 1987, but could this get any medals.

At the European ranking tournament Europe Top 12 1986 and 1988 she won first place. Several medals she won at the European championships: 1980, 1984 and 1988, she won by the Russian team. In 1982, she won the doubles title with Inna Kovalenko, 1984 she was number 2 in the singles, 1986 silver in singles and winning the doubles ( with Elena Kovtun ), 1988 European Champion in singles and No. 2 in doubles (with Elena Kovtun ).

In 1988 she took part in the Olympic Games with the USSR.

Italy

1989 moved Bulatowa to Italy. From 1994, she was eligible to play for this country for which she launched in 1994 and at the 1996 European Championships, at the 1995 World Cup and 1996 Olympic Games. With the club ASTT Vittoria took 1990/91 part in the European Cup, in 1996 and 1997 she won the Italian championship in singles and doubles.

Private

Bulatowa is the daughter of a teacher married couple. She studied philosophy at the University of Tashkent. After her marriage, she performed under the name Bulatowa - Abbate.
