Fouquescourt

Fouquescourt ( Picard: Fouquécourt ) is a northern French village with 167 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, in the canton of Rosières -en- Santerre and is part of the Communauté de communes du Santerre.

Geography

The church in the countryside Santerre is about 8.5 km north- northwest of Roye at the department of road D161. In the north of the village there is a British military cemetery.

History

The place was called in 1146 as Furcelli curtis. In the possession of the abbey of Corbie and the Priory Lihons shared.

In the battle of the Somme in 1916 Fouquescourt suffered damage. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.

The community was provided around 2001 on resettlement, because here the third Parisian airport was to be built, which failed due to a change of government.
